Obituary for Albert Landis Kirkner

Albert Landis Kirkner, age 91, of Westminster, MD., died Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home.

Albert was born October 12, 1929 in Pulaski, VA., the son of the late Robert James Kirkner and the late Ruby Landis Kirkner.

Albert was the husband of the late Merle Davis Kirkner (nee Quesenberry).

He went to school in Pulaski VA, before beginning his career working for his father’s company, Pulaski Tinning Co. He started out as a sheet metal mechanic. He was the founder of Al Kirkner & Sons, Inc. (1969) and ABAR Homes, Inc. (1978), where he built several thousand homes in Carroll & surrounding Counties.

Surviving are children; son Albert Lee Kirkner and wife Sybil Kirkner, son Benny Robert Kirkner and wife Janice Kirkner, son Richard Michael Kirkner and wife Daphne Kirkner, daughter Patricia Lou Barnes and husband Rick Barnes; grandchildren: Dannette Kirkner, Christina Kanther, Denise Vourlos, Carrie Brister, Megian Lightner, Erik Kirkner, Brian Kirkner, Emma Kirkner, Nicole Kirkner; also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by wife Merle Davis Kirkner and the late daughter Kathy Sue Kirkner, siblings Bobbie Jean Dalton, Elmer E. Kirkner, & Ruby Jane Waller.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 2-3 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School.). With a celebration of life starting at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Melissa Helfer of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Service will be live streamed starting at 2:50 PM. Mask and social distancing are required at all times at the funeral home.
