Obituary for Allen B Sales

Allen Boyd Sales, Sr., 73, of Keymar, MD, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 3, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Olney, MD on October 3, 1949, he is the son of Amanda Halterman Sales and the late Allen Sales. Allen was the loving husband of the late Peggy Elaine Sales, his wife of 53 years. In addition to his mother, Allen is survived by his daughter Debbi Mathis and husband Justin, two sons, Robby Sales and significant other Kelly, Jay Sales, and wife Stacey. Eight grandchildren that brought so much joy to his life, AJ, Britney, Mathew, Savannah, Melissa, Ember, Collin, and Devon; four great-grandchildren Melina, Aubree, Grayson, and Rylan; his siblings Randy, Steve, Terry, Dawn, Cathy, and Wendy. He was also survived by his loving aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Sam, his best friend. Allen was known by many nicknames such as Pap-Pap, Peanut, and Blue.

A jack of all trades, he spent his years farming alongside friends and family while continuing to work as a handyman. His hobbies included spending time on the farm with his cows and tractors, working in his vegetable garden, as well as collecting coins. Though Allen enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, the light of his life was his great-grandchildren. What he loved the most was welcoming others into his home and ensuring they never left hungry. Allen was always trying to be the jokester; he would say just about anything to strike up a conversation to make everyone he met laugh. Many times, it was hard to understand his jokes, but we made sure we laughed anyway.

He will be missed dearly by everyone. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, December 9th, 2022, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 West Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 12th, 2022, at Pine Grove Cemetery, 737 South Main Street Mount Airy, MD 21771.
