Obituary for Barbara Ann Bowman

Barbara Ann Bowman transitioned from this life on April 20, 2021 following illness. She was born at home to loving parents Margaret Ann Bowman and Richard Bowman, Sr., on August 14, 1938 in Westminster, MD.
Barbara attended New Market Elementary-Middle School. She left school after seventh grade to help support the family by working on a farm and later in a shoe factory. As she began having a family of her own, she decided to become a stay-at-home mother. In the late 1970’s, Barbara and her family relocated to Baltimore, MD. She was well suited for life in the city and enjoyed every moment of it. Her friendly, fun and outgoing personality made her well-known in the community, with some neighbors affectionately addressing her as “Ms. B.” She loved children and was a childcare provider for family, friends, and acquaintances.
Barbara was not rich, but she was incredibly wealthy in generosity. She opened her home to friends and family in need and shared whatever she had. Barbara loved to tell stories and filled the room with infectious laughter. She enjoyed dancing and music, especially the music of Otis Redding. She used to pass the time playing cards with friends and family. Barbara was a good cook and enjoyed country cuisine like fried potatoes, peach cobbler, and bean soup. She was outspoken, loving, protective, forgiving, honest and trusted by many because of her genuine nature.
Barbara was well loved and will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Richard Bowman, Sr.; her siblings Edna Bowman and Richard Bowman, Jr., her sons Albert Bowman, Jr., and Allen Bowman, Sr., as well as her daughters Carol Bowman and Doris Gibson. She is survived by her brother Thomas Bowman, her sons Jerry Bowman, Melvin Bowman, Jr., and Wilbert Gibson, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
