Obituary for Barbara May Stiegler (Glaser)

Barbara May Stiegler, age 82, of Williamsburg, VA, went to be with Jesus her savior, February 17, 2023 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA.

She was born June 22, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, the only child of Lester and Evelyn Glaser.

She was the wife of 61 years to Douglas Parker Stiegler of Williamsburg, VA.

She was the innkeeper at Inn of the Shepherd Retreat Ministry at “The Farm” in Woodstock, MD for 29 years.

Doug and Barb met at Randallstown Elementary in the 6th grade. The seed was sewn and after many dates, a few breakups and makeups, they were married on August 12, 1961. Barb was a young Army wife when their first son Scott was born. Todd followed 3-1/2 years later. Her greatest joy was to provide a home for her family and retreat ministry for the body of Christ. She loved Colonial Williamsburg, where they would travel to several times a year and eventually retire to 8 years ago (2015).

Doug and Barb went to Haiti in 1989 as missionaries for 2 years, hosting short term trips to expose churches and college groups to the mission field.

Upon returning to the US, Doug took over as Director of Family Protection Lobby in Annapolis, MD, where Barb organized Bible Studies, Prayer Groups and other events with Senators, Delegates, and staff members. They also led “Encore” marriage enrichment weekends for 20 years.

With two boys who loved sports, she enjoyed the Orioles. She loved gardening, growing vegetables on the farm, but most of all she loved her family and ministering to anyone she had the chance to share Jesus with!

In addition to her husband, Barb is survived by her oldest son Scott Stiegler and his wife Kristi, grand child Bethany Topmiller and (Justin), great grand children Felicity and Cassidy of Albuquerque, NM and grand child Brett Stiegler of Denver, Co.

Also second son Todd Stiegler and his wife Valarie, grand children Zachary Lynchburg, VA, and Madison of Savannah, GA.
