Obituary for Beata L, "Tootsie" Kerr (Dough)

Beata L. Kerr (nee Dough), 89 of Eldersburg, MD passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

She was born March 26, 1933, in Exmore, VA the daughter of the late Ralph James Dough and the late Nannie Sue Dough Schmoyer (nee Young). She is predeceased by her sister’s Nancy Paddy (nee Dough) and Faye Kunowsky (nee Dough) and brother Ralph J. Dough, Jr.

Beata, nicknamed “Tootsie”, graduated from Bladensburg HS in 1952, where she was a proud member of the National Honor Society, the Tri-Hi-Y, the Student Council, the Yearbook staff, the Student Proctors, the Prom committee, the Ring committee, the Office Staff and was voted “Best All Around.” After graduation, she married Robert Howard Kerr (deceased 1972) her husband of 19 years. They purchased a home in Lanham, in 1964, where Beata lived until 1995 when she moved to Prince Frederick in Calvert County. She moved to Carroll County in 2010 to be closer to family.

Beata is survived by her sister, Shirley Sorensen (nee Dough). Daughters: Karen Lorence and Linda Yankowski (David). Grandchildren: Misty Bacchus (Stephen), Bobby Lorence, Joseph Yankowski, James Yankowski, Jessica Yankowski. Great grandchildren: Ashlynn, Ayden, Alexiya, Austin, Jaycie, Blake and Jaxson. Great-great-grandchildren: Everleigh and Christian.

In her early years, Beata enjoyed her time as a mother and spent time as a Girl Scout Leader, which led to many enjoyable camping trips. When her children were grown, she spent time travelling to see NASCAR races with friends. Beata worked for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission in PG County for more than 25 years, where she was an Administrative Assistant and retired in 2002. In retirement, she travelled across the U.S. to see the country that she loved so much. But, her most treasured times were those spent with her family. She loved entertaining and she enjoyed the Christmas season most of all.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10-11 AM with funeral service beginning at 11 AM, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Winfield, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).


Interment at Lake View Memorial Park
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
