Carolyn Elizabeth (Garrity) Collard, of Westminster, Md, formerly of Hedgesville, WV, died December 11, 2020. The loving wife of Kenwood and mother of four died after a long illness at the age of 86. Born November 28, 1934 in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Dr. James C. and Norma (Marshall) Garrity. She attended college in Wisconsin and married Kenwood Collard in June, 1953.
Carolyn and Kenwood built a life around their family with gatherings and tradition that spanned over six decades. Carolyn’s greatest joys were her family, she was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She had a passion for life and had many friends along her journey. Carolyn was a member of the Norborne Garden Club and St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Hedgesville, WV. She loved watching and feeding the deer, squirrels, and birds around her home. Carolyn was known for her infectious smile and her quick wit.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister Kathleen and her daughter, Julie. She is survived by her husband, Kenwood, her children, Mary Collard of Sykesville, Tim Collard and his wife Marguerite of Westminster and Joe Collard of Westminster, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was loved and will be sorely missed.
