Obituary for Charles Alvan Fluet

Charles Alvan Fluet, 77 of Westminster formerly New Windsor, MD

He was born June 9, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late Joseph O. Fluet and the late Grace (Belliveau) Fluet. Mr. Fluet lived in Northern Virginia from 1972 to 2019, He was married for 53 years to the late Lorraine M. (Gooley) Fluet.
His clever, understated wit was perhaps one of his most endearing qualities, and his unmistakable laugh could fill up the room. He was known for his kindness, gentleness, and constant encouragement of others. He worked as an air safety investigator in the federal government for 34 years, with positions at the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. He forged new developments in tools and processes that improved aviation safety internationally.
He and his wife, Lorraine, were active leaders in the youth ministry at Burke Community Church in Burke, VA; their love and affection made a lasting impression on many. He was an adept fisherman, painter, and an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and the Washington Redskins and shared these passions with his children and grandchildren. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech.
He is survived by his children Matthew Fluet and wife Michelle, Andrew Fluet and wife Nicole. Also survived by 6 grandchildren Grant, Boone, Scout, Raine, Kaylie and Renee.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11AM at Faith Family Church, 4150 Sykesville, MD 21048. Reception immediately afterwards. Graveside Interment at 2PM on Saturday February 5, 2022 in Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster, MD. Arrangements are by BURRIER-QUEEN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, P.A.
