Obituary for Charles H. Garrett Jr.

Charles H Garrett, Jr , 88 of Westminster and Carroll Lutheran Village Independent Living, passed Wednesday January 27, 2021. He died unnecessarily and tragically of covid. He was exposed to this deadly virus after a resident attended an indoor family holiday dinner, which he did not attend.
Charles was born February 19,1932 in Baltimore, MD. The son of Charles H Garrett Sr and Emma Suchting Garrett. He was the husband of the late Nancy V. Garrett, who passed in 2018.
He grew up in Gwynn Oak Junction, lived in Woodlawn, and in the late 1960s moved to the family farm in Winfield.
He was retired from BGE and an army veteran. His “second career” was selling beer for Milkhouse Brewery at area farmers markets. He enjoyed meeting new people and making friends wherever he went. He enjoyed his farm, his cub cadet tractor, his daily walk, NASCAR, his granddaughter’s soccer games, traveling and playing bingo.
Charles was an active volunteer over the years at St Paul Lutheran Church in Catonsville, Faith Lutheran Church in Eldersburg, and Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster, where he volunteered at the soup kitchen on Tuesdays. He also volunteered at the Brethren Services Center in New Windsor.
He is survived by his family, Susan Hebble (Brad) of Westminster, Charles H Garrett III (Mary Bel) of Bloomington, MN and Elizabeth Tallman of Westminster. Grandchildren Bradley Humbert, Andrew Hebble (Liz), Garrett Tallman, Katie Tallman, Charles H Garrett IV, Samantha Garrett. Also survived by great-granddaughter Brianna Smith and his special lady friend Jane Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winfield Community Fire Department 1320 W Old Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784 or Grace Lutheran Church 21 Carroll St #4829, Westminster, MD 21157.
Due to covid restrictions there will be no service at this time.
