Obituary for Dorothy L. Franklin
Dorothy Louise Franklin, 82, of Winfield, MD passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at copper Ridge Nursing Home in Sykesville, MD after a long battle with dementia. Born November 20, 1939 in Taylorsville, MD she was the daughter of the late Truman Lee Franklin and Edith Mae (Porter) Franklin.
She was a homemaker. Dorothy enjoyed listening to country music, going to carnivals, shopping with her daughter, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Dorothy was very kind and always put others first before herself. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Lee Franklin and a son-in-law, Wade Monroe Benge. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Benge-Cook and son-in-law, Michael Cook Jr. of Westminster, MD; brother, Truman Eugene Franklin of Winfield, MD and sister-in-law, Paula (Blair) Franklin of Union Bridge, MD. She is also survived by grandchildren, Crystal (Benge) Stephenson and spouse Charles; and Jesse Benge; and great-grandchildren, Azrael Stephenson and Eliora Stephenson, as well as nephews, Gerald Blair and Chad Blair; and cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, and also on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am with the funeral service starting at 11:00 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1212 West Old Liberty Rd., Winfield, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School). Interment will be at Taylorsville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
