Obituary for Faith Arrington (Farver)

Faith Farver Arrington, 82, of Dayton, MD, died peacefully in her sleep at home on September 24, 2022. She was the spouse of J. Robert “Bob” Arrington, who predeceased her in 2014. She was born July 31, 1940, in Frederick, MD, the daughter of Robert Ray and Bina Farver and lived her entire childhood in Carroll County. Mrs. Arrington was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Airy High School, where she served as class vice president and was co-valedictorian. Upon graduation, she attended Strayer Business College in Baltimore, MD and upon graduation became an administrative assistant at the Atomic Energy Commission (now Dept. of Energy). Her position allowed her to travel to Geneva, Switzerland for the International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.
Mrs. Arrington enjoyed sports and was a star athlete in high school. As an adult, she played tennis, was a pitcher for the Mt. Zion UMC slow pitch softball team and always rooted for the Orioles. She maintained a lifelong affiliation with Taylorsville United Methodist Church and was fortunate enough to travel on church organized trips to holy sites, including Jerusalem.
Faith married and left the workforce to raise her son, Rob, and daughter, Christy. During that time, she sold and delivered produce and eggs from her parents’ small farm to several loyal customers who became close friends. After her first marriage ended in divorce, she returned to full time employment at the Singer-Link Corporation (now GSE Systems), where she met Bob Arrington. They married in 1982 and enjoyed 32 wonderful years together. They especially enjoyed traveling the country and spending time with their grandchildren. Faith loved all animals but was especially attached to her dogs. Always willing to help others, Faith volunteered over the years to assist her church, organized the Wilhide Family Reunion, wrote a newsletter for the Board of Child Care and started a local chapter of Self Help for Hard of Hearing Persons (now Hearing Loss Association of America).
Surviving her are her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Katie Cole of Ellicott City, MD and daughter and son-in-law Christy and Robert Price of Westminster, MD. Grandchildren: Carolyn, Jack and Anne Cole and Megan and Ryan Price.
Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Taylorsville United Methodist Church, 4356 Ridge Rd, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thereafter, a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at the church cemetery.
