Obituary for Garrett W. "Gary" Conover

On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Garrett “Gary” Conover passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

Gary was born in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked at McCormick & Company.

Gary was married to Robin Conover. Their combined families of seven children, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren were their pride and joy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7612 and served as an usher at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 20 years. He was an ambitious man who was always on the move. Gary was, without exception, always around to guide his children and grandchildren throughout their lives. He was an outspoken and practical man who went through life with an open mind and heart.

Gary enjoyed reading books and going to casinos.

Gary was preceded in death by siblings Charles Conover, Donald Conover, and Jean Catalano and by daughter Joyce Marquardt. He is survived by his wife, Robin, brother Bill Conover, children Timothy, Gary, John, Maggie, Jennifer, and Rori. Gary will be interred at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

A PRIVATE-IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY memorial service will be held in Gary’s honor at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD on Sunday, January 10.2021 the service will be livestreamed starting at 1:55 PM; for friends and relatives who are unable to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions, distance, or work schedules.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.

If desired, donations may be sent to Carroll Hospice, Inc., 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 in lieu of flowers.
