Obituary for Gilbert F. "Gil" Blanchfield

Tuesday, October 6, 2020, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother Gilbert ‘Gil’ Francis Blanchfield passed away in Carroll County.

Gil was born in Baltimore, MD on August 19, 1932 to the late John and Mary Blanchfield. He worked on a tugboat, acquired his captain’s license and worked for many years at Green Spring Dairy and rose to the level of President of the company and had that position for twenty-two years. He raised seven children.

Gil loved to listen to music and to dance and sing, going crabbing on his boat, painting works of art, building furniture, gardening on his land, and being on the water in general. He loved his family and enjoyed having them over for socializing and meals.

Gil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly, his sons and daughters Brenda (Bob), Vicki (Dean), David (Brenda), Debbie (Mike), Michele (David) and Julie, his twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren, siblings Dorothy, Patsy, Gertrude, Marie, and Robert and many other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by his brothers Leonard, Johnny and Philip, his sister Marge and his son Gilbert (Tony).

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 Am on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Burrier – Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School). Social distancing and mask are required at the funeral home. Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend starting at 10:50 AM.
