Obituary for Imogene Lingo (Hundley)

Imogene Lingo passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 1, 2021. She was born in Henry ,VA in 1919. The Daughter of Dudley Hundley and Caroline Jameson. She was predeceased by 7 siblings and several children Lynne, Bertha, Bobby, Bonnie, Jimmy. She is survived by a son-John, and Grandchildren Patty, Sandra, Chip, Alison, and Zachary. She Graduated from Martinsville high school, went to Gasaway business college. She then graduated from Springfield nursing school at the top of the class in 1954. She spent 30+years as a nurse at the University of Md in the outpatient, labor and delivery, ENT, surgery, shock trauma, and orthopedic surgery depts. She enjoyed playing Bridge, crossword puzzles, and bingo and lunches with friends from the Pikesville senior center. She was the proud recipient of a Governors citation in 1981, Woman of the year in 1984, head of the hope circle, numerous years as UMW, and the senior hall of fame for humanitarian service in 1994. She was honored by both the governor and Carroll county commissioners in 2019 for her lifetime achievements as a Centenarian and received her own name day by the Carroll county commissioners.
