Obituary for Joan I Farquharson
Joan I. Farquharson, age 86 of Sykesville, Maryland, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023.
She was the wife of W. Ross Farquharson, Jr. and was born on April 13, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York.
Joan was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family, faith and chocolate chip cookies were the cornerstones of her life.
Surviving, in addition to her loving husband, Ross, of 65 years, are her 5 children, Janet I. McCurdy, David Ross Farquharson and wife, Karla (deceased), Paul N. Farquharson and wife, Kelly, Virginia A. Voyack and husband, Frank, and Peter W. Farquharson and wife, Marita. She loved her 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and she and Ross called and sang to them every year on their birthdays. A memorial service will be held at the Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Avenue, Sykesville, Maryland on March 18, 2023 at 1:00pm with Reverend Loree Penner presiding.
Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
As Joan was the ever-faithful Army wife, in lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a contribution to the Fisher House Foundation whose mission is to help military families by building comfort homes where military & veteran families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital.
