Obituary for Kathryn I. "Kathy" Mowder (Williams)

Kathryn ‘Kathy’ Irene Mowder (Williams), 79, of Sykesville passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Kathy was a devoted and loving mother of her two sons, Jimmie and Jeffrey.

She is affectionately remembered by many, and especially all the kids who grew up in Allview Estates.

Kathy was considered a second mom by many and opened her home to all the kids from Allview. It wasn’t unusual for her to wake up and cook breakfast for more than a dozen kids, and even occasionally make spaghetti at 1 am. She is remembered for being there for everybody - for advice or someone to listen.

She attended all the sporting events: baseball, football, and swimming. Her cinnamon sugar donuts were a favorite during swim meets.

After raising her boys, Kathy worked in jewelry and retail into her late 70s.

Kathy enjoyed getting her nails done, and meeting friends for lunch. Maryland crabs were a highlight. Kathy was known for her sense of humor, laughing, and having a sharp wit.

Born September 28, 1943, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gorton Williams and the late Beulah Neib.
She is survived her children Jimmie Mowder, Jr & wife Carol and Jeffrey Mowder & Niccole.

Also survived by sister, Carolyn Handschumacher; sister-in-law Pauline Williams; grandchildren Jimmie Mowder III and wife Victoria, Nicole Marshall and husband Jon, Alexandra, Samantha, and Mackenzie; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of St. Mary's 425 Barkwill street St. Mary's, WV 26170.
