Obituary for Marian Jaeger (Fielding )

Marian Fielding Jaeger 10/20/29 - 9/15/19

Marian died peacefully with her daughters by her side on September 15, 2019 at The Dove House, Carroll Hospice. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold (Hal) and is survived by her two daughters, Katy Gavin and Libby Marchetti, along with her four grandsons, Tim and Nick Gavin, Dominic and Nico Marchetti, as well as two great-granddaughters, granddaughter-in-law, Sara Gavin, and sons-in-law, Tim Gavin, Sr. and Anthony Marchetti.

Marian was born in Norfolk, England and came to this country 70 years ago as a young bride. She met Hal at a USO dance and when he got out of the army, he returned to England to find her. They were married six months later and settled in Ohio, eventually moving to Maryland. They raised their family in Maryland and spent four years in Munich, Germany where Hal was stationed and where Libby was born.

Marian worked as a secretary and schoolteacher and later in life retired at Riderwood Village Retirement Home. She lived there for 15 years and was very active as a volunteer and member of the bridge club and knitting club. She enjoyed traveling and returned to England to visit with family and always felt at home when she did. She enjoyed watching sports, never understanding the games, but still enjoying them. Her attempts at understanding the games were never successful: "Who is that person wearing the black and white shirt? What are they doing?” were frequent questions. She loved to watch football and her grandsons got a kick out her infatuation with Deion Sanders and PDiddy.

She was very proud of her grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She will be missed by her family, especially during the holidays, which she loved. A relative summed it up with this; “Whenever she would come to a family event, I used to think she was the most beautiful woman in the house! So sweet and pint-sized.”

We love you mom.
