Obituary for Robert Norman "Bob" Baker Jr.

Robert Norman “Bob” Baker, Jr., 78 of Mt. Airy, Maryland, suddenly passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Lynn Baker (Castle) for 41 years. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son, Timothy Baker. Bob was born on September 14, 1944, in Salem, Oregon, the son of the late Robert Norman Baker, Sr. and the late Betty Jane Baker. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Anne Baker.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his beloved family dogs, Max and Rockie. One of his favorite hobbies was creating artistic pieces with stained glass. During retirement, Bob enjoyed driving a bus for KAM Transportation Entps for Howard County Public Schools, driving for children with special needs for 18 ½ years. He also drove for ABC busing company. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received a Good Conduct Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and The National Defense Medal.

Bob completed his Associate’s Degree, attended Chemical Surface Ordnance School and Surface EOD/Nuclear Weapons Development School. He was later employed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center.

During his lifetime, Bob lived in Oregon, France, Greece, England, Germany, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Maryland.

A private celebration of Bob’s life will take place in the future.
