Robert Timothy “Tim” Smith
On May 3, 2020, Tim Smith, loving husband of 44 years, father of three, grandfather of five, and resident of Sykesville, passed away at the age 73 at home.
Tim was born on December 18, 1946 in Baltimore City to Thomas R. And Genevieve S. Smith, and grew up in Woodstock, MD. Tim served as an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. After completing his service, he worked as a Disability Examiner for the Social Security Administration until his retirement.
In 1976 Tim married the love of his life Linda (Bark) Smith, and they celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary in March. Tim and Linda made a life together in Carroll County, raised three children, welcomed 5 grandchildren, and enjoyed their journey. I later years, Tim and Linda delighted in taking cruises and traveling.
Tim was preceded by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his children, Jack C. Cimino, Alison A. Smith, Amy N. (Smith) Bell and son-in-law Major Michael E. Bell, five grandchildren, McKenzie, Morgan, Myla, Macie and Branson.
Tim will be remembered by all as a man who loved his family deeply, was proud of their accomplishments, contributed to the community as a volunteer girls softball coach for many years, and one who was gracious and humble. Tim was honored as a volunteer of the Year by the Winfield Recreation Council for his continued coaching, long after his own children grew up and left home. After his eventual retirement as a coach, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play softball, baseball and other sports, offering his advice and support.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Messiah Lutheran Church Celebration Hall, with the Rev. Michael Dubsky officiating.
