Obituary for Ruth Louise Dorsey (Cook)
Ruth Louise Dorsey (Cook) age 80, of Sykesville, Maryland, died peacefully at her home on Friday, May 10, 2019.
Born October 24, 1938, in Carroll County, she was one of five siblings born to the late Carroll Eugene Cook and Daisy May Cook (Myers). For 63 years, she was the wife of the late Richard Cromwell Dorsey who passed on April 4, 2017.
Ruth was educated in the Carroll County Public School System at The Robert Moton School in Westminster. She was employed by the Howard County Public School System, retiring after 26 years of service, as food preparation supervisor. She was a lifelong, dedicated member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where she served many years as head of the Usher's Board.
She is survived by her children Richard Dorsey, Sr. (Kathy); Don Dorsey (Roselle); Marvin Dorsey; Alex Dorsey (Tierra); Sandra Jenkins (Jason); Neal Dorsey (Clayonia); and late infant son Dennis "Eric" Dorsey. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, several grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, and dear friends.
Viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 7-9 PM and Friday, May 17, 2019, from 10-11 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, P.A., 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
Interment immediately following at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
