Obituary for Stephen Atlee Bergmann

Stephen Atlee Bergmann, 67 Years Old of Littlestown, PA (formerly of Westminster, MD)
died June 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Medical Center. He was born in Cheverly, Maryland on March 8, 1953.

Steve was employed by Amdahl Corporation as Software Engineer. He was the loving husband of Sue Andrews Bergmann for 42 years, the devoted father of Donald Robert Bergmann (Ashley Bergmann) of Sykesville, Maryland, Stephen Carl Bergmann (Rachel Bergmann) of Taneytown, Maryland, Brittany Bergmann Spencer (Derrick Spencer) of Sykesville, Maryland, adoring grandfather of Ava Luhn, Carli Bergmann, Sophia Bergmann, Landon Bergmann and Easton Spencer. He was the son of the late Donald Atlee Bergmann and Betty Baker Bergmann, brother of Brenda Bergmann Howard, Donna Bergmann Bedwell and the late Bonny Bergmann Dibble.

Steve Bergmann was baptized at First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville, Maryland in 1953. He was confirmed there and became Chaplain of The United Methodist Youth Fellowship. He began attending, and subsequently transferred membership to, Ebenezer United Methodist Church during the late 1980’s. He attended Lay Speaking training and became certified as a lay speaker. Steve attended License to Preach training at West River United Methodist Retreat Center and graduated as a Licensed Local Pastor. He was appointed to Ebenezer United
Methodist Church. Since then Steve has led worship and assisted in other pastoral activities. He currently served as chairman of the Endowment Committee and continued to preach and lead worship services at various times throughout the year.

Steve enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends. Together they took multiple cruises and made frequent trips to California. Working with computers and technology was his life’s work and his favorite pastime. Steve loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a man of great faith who willingly accepted leadership positions in the life of his church, often using his life experiences, joys and challenges to witness to the Lord he loved and served.

Services will be conducted at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, in Sykesville, Maryland at a later date, with Rev. Judith A. Emerson officiating.

Interment will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church’s Cemetery.
