Obituary for Steven Lewis Embrey
Steven Lewis Embrey, 70, of Mt. Airy passed away on September 4th, 2022 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, with his loving wife Maria by his side.
Born June 26, 1952 in Rockville MD, he is the eldest son of the late John Lewis Embrey and Gladys Arlene Tolbert (Gibson). Steve was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School, class of 1971. Steve attended trade school for HVAC and Sheetmetal Construction, then went to work for Aitken Air Conditioning and Heating for many years, until he became Vice President for Potomac Mechanical Contractors Inc. of Gaithersburg MD where he worked for over 30 years.
Steve was a devoted husband to Maria Elena Melcher, loving father to Juliet Flanary and Will Stover of Glen Burnie MD, Raechelle Embrey of Bella Vista AR, Tanya Embrey of Westminster MD, and Sunny and Joe Levine of Newnan GA. He was an awesome Pop Pop to Zeke Flanary and Owen Flanary of Taneytown MD and Jayden Page of Westminster MD. He is also survived by his brother Glenn and Geraldine Embrey of New Market MD. He also had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts, and Uncles that loved him dearly.
Steve was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Boss, mentor, and friend. He will always be remembered for his loud voice, laugh, mullet, fu man chu facial hair, zest for life, practical jokes, and awesome sense of humor. He loved sitting in his backyard, among his flower gardens, with his wife Maria and his German Shephard, Ben, by his side, enjoying a cold beer. Steve enjoyed taking Ben for long truck rides, listening to rock n roll music, Washington football, U of Maryland Sports, golf, and time with his daughters and son-in-law, Joe, grandchildren, and friends.
